Kyle Westmoreland takes medalist honors in U.S. Open local qualifier at Columbia CC

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. -- Kyle Westmoreland (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.), Hunter Fry (Dacula, Ga.), Marion Dantzler (Orangeburg, S.C.), Ryan Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.), and Emmanuel Kountakis (Augusta, Ga.) advanced from U.S Open local qualifying at Columbia Country Club’s Ridgewood/Tall Pines course (7,150 yards, par 72) to Final Qualifying for the 2021 U.S. Open Championship. 

Westmoreland took the medalist honors with a 3-under-par 69 on Thursday. Fry, Dantzler, Hall and Kountakis all shot 1-under 71.

Gene Zeigler (Florence, S.C.) grabbed the first alternate spot and Will Miles (Hilton Head, S.C.) is second alternate after a two-hole playoff. Both players shot 72.

All told, 77 players were competing for five spots and two alternates positions in order in Final Qualifying for the 2021 United States Open Championship at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, Calif., on June 17-20.
