Alex Hamilton is New Director of South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation

COLUMBIA, SC (Oct. 28, 2022) - The South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation (SCJGF) announced the hiring of Alex Hamilton as Foundation Director. Hamilton, an Aiken, South Carolina native, will oversee the direction of the SCJGF in order to cultivate results and carry out the mission of the organization.

Hamilton brings a new set of knowledge to the Junior Golf Foundation, having experience with every facet of the game of golf. Most recently, his experience serving as a college and amateur development representative for Callaway Golf aided his knowledge of relationship cultivation and management. Prior to his experience at Callaway Golf, Hamilton served as the head men’s golf coach at Wofford College from 2017-2020.

“We are excited to have Alex join the SC Junior Golf Foundation team,” Biff Lathrop, SCGA Executive Director, said. “He brings with him a wealth of knowledge about the game, the people in South Carolina and most importantly, a passion for what we are doing. He’s going to be a great asset to our organization.”

Hamilton was an active member of the South Carolina Junior Golf Association during his junior golf years. He was a member of the men’s golf team at The University of South Carolina from 2001-2005 and was SCGA Amateur Champion in 2004.

“What an incredible opportunity to join the SCJGF and help junior golf in our state,” Hamilton said. “This is a full-circle moment for me: to come back and represent an organization that supported me so much growing up. We have a very rich tradition of golf in South Carolina and have one of the best junior golf programs in the country. I’m looking forward to helping the Foundation continue its mission to grow the game in our state and help junior golfers of all levels.”

Hamilton will begin his position with the SCJGF November 3, 2022.

The South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation’s mission is to enrich the lives of South Carolina’s youth through funding for educational and recreational opportunities, including junior golf programs. The Board of Trustees’ vision of the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation is to meet the following objectives, create avenues to get children into grass roots golf programs. To support programs throughout the state that serve population clusters enabling children of all backgrounds the opportunity to participate in the game of golf. To secure enough funding to provide awards for five new scholarships annually. To create the opportunity to provide free equipment to any school, group, program or individual who so desires to facilitate the game and teach life values associated with the sport.
