CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 25, 2019) – Chloe Holder of Williamston, S.C., shot even-par 72 in Sunday’s final round at Pine Island Country Club to win the 14th Vicki DiSantis Girls’ Championship by two strokes.

“I'm feeling pretty great. I'm excited for sure,” said Holder, who finished at 1-under-par 143. “Honestly, to me it kind of proves that I can come out here and win. I can do this. I can hang with everybody, and I can win.”

The day started out a little rocky for Holder after her bogey on No. 3 pulled eventual fourth-place finisher Katherine Schuster of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., within one shot of the lead.

“I thought, ‘Okay, I’ve got to focus a little bit here,’” said Holder. “So, I was able to make birdie on number seven, the par 5. That gave me back some momentum, but then I turned around and bogeyed number 8.”

But Holder birdied the next three holes. The birdies on Nos. 9, 10 and 11 gave Holder a five-shot lead heading into the par-4 12th hole.

“That really pushed me to the top and to stay there,” said Holder. “I was just playing steady golf after that.”

Holder never relinquished her lead, but she wasn’t in the clear at that point. Runner-up Alexia Siehl of Fort Mill, S.C., started the round four shots back of Holder, but was able to finish two behind with a 1-over-par 145 total.

Holder and Siehl matched both shot 1-under 35s on the front nine. A birdie on the par-3, 17th hole by Siehl got her back within two shots of the lead heading into No. 18, but that was as close as she got.

Siehl and Kelly Topiwala of Mathews, N.C., who tied for seventh, both shot 71, the low rounds of the day.

Kayleigh Reinke of Rock Hill, S.C., finished in third place with a 3-over-par 147. Victoria Cook of Reidsville, N.C., shot 72 in the final round and tied Schuster for fourth at 148.
